Please reach us at support@lighthouse.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
While your primary vet focuses on clinical diagnostics, surgery, and prescriptions in a busy clinic setting, Pet Lighthouse provides the luxury of time and a focus on you and your pet's quality of life.
We offer 60-minute, unhurried consultations that bridge the gap between medical data and your daily life.
We don’t perform surgeries or sell medications, which allows us to be a 100% independent sounding board for your decisions.
Pet insurance will generally cover second opinion and referral consultations, however many insurance companies require that you contact them first. It is important to check your policy and if in doubt contact your insurer directly.
Home visits are often NOT covered, so please contact your insurer before booking a home visit if you are hoping they will cover this.
Pet insurance is important, but can be complicated. Whether your online consultation is covered by your insurance will depend on a number of factors- whether there is a requirement for pre-approval, if there is a fee limit for consultations, the condition limit and amount that has been spent, any excesses etc. If in any doubt please check with your insurer.
Pet Lighthouse cannot accept any liability for pet insurance failing to pay for any services.
Unfortunately we are unable to offer direct insurance claims.
Not at all. Seeking a second opinion is a standard and respected practice in professional veterinary medicine.
It shows you are a dedicated and informed advocate for your pet. We view ourselves as an extension of your pet's care team, and we will provide a report to your vet to assist in your pet's ongoing care.
Yes. To provide an accurate and professional second opinion, we review your pet’s clinical history.
We can handle this for you.
With your permission, we will contact your vet’s office directly to request the records, so you don’t have to worry about the logistics or any awkward conversations.
As an independent consultancy focused on quality of life, we do not dispense or prescribe medications.
Our role is to help you understand the options available so you can go back to your prescribing vet with a clear, confident plan for your pet’s next steps.
If you are feeling overwhelmed by a new diagnosis, struggling to measure your pet’s "good days" vs "bad days," or feel under pressure to choose a treatment that doesn't feel right for your family—that is the right time.
Or anytime you wish you had a vet friend you could talk to.
We are here to provide the "Lighthouse" when the path forward feels foggy and rocky.
