At Pet Lighthouse, our consultations are designed to provide calm, thoughtful support at what is often an emotionally difficult time.
We focus on helping you understand your pet’s quality of life, explore your options, and make decisions that feel right for both your pet and your family.
The first step is a short, optional, no-obligation conversation to see whether Pet Lighthouse is right for you and your pet. This isn’t a consultation as such, and I won’t offer opinions or recommendations about your pet during this call. It’s simply a chance to:
- Share what brought you to Pet Lighthouse
- Ask questions about how our online pet consultations work
- See whether my approach feels like a good fit for your pet care support needs
If you are ready to book a full consultation, including quality of life assessments, without an initial chat, you are very welcome to do so.
If you choose to proceed with one of our online pet consultations, you will be asked to give consent for us to request your pet’s clinical records from their primary care vet.
Reviewing these records is a crucial step in understanding your pet’s medical history and current condition. This process helps ensure that any guidance we provide during our pet care support is fully informed and appropriate, particularly when it comes to quality of life assessments.
Due to veterinary regulations and for your pet's wellbeing, we can only move forward with the consultation if we are able to access their medical records.
During the consultation, we will review your pet's current health and broader wellbeing. We will gently and openly explore your pet’s current quality of life. We will discuss any changes you may be noticing, and talk through the options available to you. We will also talk about what is important to you as a family.
Where appropriate, this may include support with end-of-life decision-making, palliative care considerations, and helping you understand when “enough” may be enough. There is no pressure to make decisions on the call—our role is to support, inform, and guide you at your own pace.
The consultation will usually be recorded to support accurate record-keeping.
Following the appointment, you will receive a detailed written report. A shorter report will also be shared with your primary care vet to ensure everyone involved in your pet’s care is aligned.
If you want to arrange future check ins to monitor progress or discuss any changes these are available to be booked online at your convenience.
Most of our consultations are carried out online and last around 45 minutes, allowing you to join from the comfort of your own home. This can be especially helpful when caring for an ill, elderly, or fragile pet.
Appointments can be booked online at a time that works for you and any family members you would like to be involved.
Evening and weekend appointments are available.
In selected London postcodes, we are able to offer face-to-face consultations.
These include a clinical examination, a structured quality-of-life assessment, and unhurried discussion in your home environment.
For available postcodes and pricing, please visit our Services page.
Face-to-face consultations cannot currently be booked online. If you would like to arrange one, please book an introductory chat.
We hope to expand this service to other areas in the future—please keep an eye on the website for updates.
